High-Efficiency Furnaces.

When your furnace reaches the end of its 15-20 year lifespan, replacing it with a modern, high-efficiency system is one of the best investments an Aurora homeowner can make. Today's modulating gas furnaces achieve 98% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency), meaning 98 cents of every dollar spent on natural gas is converted directly into usable heat. Compare this to the 80% AFUE units common in homes built in the 1990s and 2000s.

Modulating vs. Single-Stage.

A single-stage furnace has two modes: 100% ON or 100% OFF. When it fires, it blasts full-power heat, quickly overshooting the thermostat setpoint, then shuts off completely, allowing the temperature to drop before cycling again. This creates uncomfortable temperature swings. A modulating furnace, by contrast, adjusts its flame intensity in 1% increments, matching its heat output precisely to the home's real-time heat loss. This results in remarkably even temperatures and whisper-quiet operation, because the system runs longer at lower outputs instead of short-cycling at full blast.

Variable-Speed ECM Blowers.

Paired with a modulating gas valve, variable-speed ECM (Electronically Commutated Motor) blower motors adjust their speed to deliver the exact CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) of airflow required. This eliminates the "blast of air" when the furnace first kicks on and provides continuous, gentle air circulation. ECM motors are also dramatically more energy-efficient than legacy PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) motors, consuming up to 75% less electricity. For a system that runs thousands of hours per Illinois winter, this translates to significant utility savings.

Our Installation Commissioning.

We verify gas pressure at the manifold with a digital manometer, test the temperature rise (the difference between return and supply air temperature) against the manufacturer's specification printed on the data plate, measure CO in the exhaust flue to confirm clean combustion, and validate that the system achieves its rated AFUE efficiency. We also inspect and seal all duct connections to prevent conditioned air from leaking into unconditioned spaces like your attic or crawlspace.
